What May Be a Reason for the Precarious State of our Today's Society.
Nowadays, parents in a number of countries give their children more liberty and free will than those that lived in the primitive years. I would say the effect of this trend on our present society is rather deleterious. However, there are some ways in which this situation could be extenuated to a considerable extent, if not totally tackled.
The level of curiosity, a natural inquisitive characteristics in all humans tend to proliferate during the initial years of a child's life. Hence, children, from infant to teenage tend to be relatively keen in exploring their world.
Centuries ago, parents used to give their children little or no time to delve the world. Moreover, they ( children) used to be occupied and immersed in a number of activities such as helping their parents on the farm, in the kitchen, or at the stream. Besides, they were always restricted from indulging in some activities that were deemed inappropriate or socially unacceptable. For instance, then, parents would restrain a child form staying outdoors late at night, visiting a male friend randomly without a friend or an acquaintance or indulging in premarital affairs. Unarguably, all those restraints contributed to the successful upbringing of children in the past. Thus, the then society was infinitely more resourceful than now.
By contrast, parents of today give their children utmost liberty. Children now have the freedom to visit male friends randomly, were revaling, provocative dresses, stay out late into the nights and worst of all, engage illicit affairs. This drastic change has actually led the society to a doom, and it (the society), is now in a parlous, deplorable state. No doubts, this freedom given to children has made them lost the moral and ethical values of the society. Tody, many young lives have been blighted by demeaning circumstances such as unwanted pregnancy and untimely death.
Nonetheless, a number of solutions could be taken to put an end to this negative trend. Parents, of course, need to play the major role in this. They should be enjoined via series of both governmental and non_ governmental programmes to do more good to the society by restraining their children from indulging in trivial, less beneficial activities as well as actions that are detrimental to their health, such as smoking and the likes. These restrictions;however, should not be too stringent as not giving them the opportunity to enjoy their heydays wisely as well as spend some time with their friends at their leisure, but parents of today just have to be more judicious and sagacious in dealing with their children.
