The Impact of the Older Adults on the Society

Recently, the younger adults, in a number of countries across the globe, refrain from engaging in a conversation with the aged. While there could be some motive for this tend, I feel its really a negative on  as it tends to adversely affect our society of today. However, this societal problem is not insurmountable.

The older adults in the society, most especially the generians_those aged from 60 and above_are often neglected due to the generally _held opinion  that they hold rather absurd, outlandish ideas regarding some affairs.  It is believed that they have no sign ificance in the society of now owing to their lack of mastery of and expertise in technology and the likes. They are known to handle matters related to 'fashion', 'sophistication' and 'modernity' ineptly;therefore, they are left out in the cold. For example, teenagers may not find it absorbing being with them, or may not be immersed in a discussion with them because of their obsolete, weird beliefs, which may seem rather boring to them(the younger ones) as a result of their lively and boisterous nature.

However, the role played by the elderly ones in the society is greatly significant  and cannot be overemphasized.  Though they may lack an indepth knowledge when it comes to 'civilisation' and 'technology', they have more function  to perform, that would undoubtedly,  contribute to the success of the society. Indisputably, the adults are sagacious and witty in making judgements. They have been in the world before the young; thus, are more experienced than  they are. They have seen a lot through the years, which justifies that they are the best advisors in most aspects of life. In addition, with them, our cultural values and heritage are still preserved till date. 

In conclusion, if the youths keep neglecting the old in the society, this be a handwriting on the wall, as there's a likelihood that our cultural norms and views may go into extinction someday.  Also, the society may plunge into an
unqualified disaster. In other to deal with these impending disaster, there is a need for effective communication between the young and the aged in the society. More individuals should converse frequently with the old. Furthermore, I suggest parents should refrain from dissuaded the younger ones from having a conversation with them,as they have a significant impact in the society. In this way, there would be a strong connectivity amongst all age groups in the society, which would pace a path for success and prosperity to thrive.
