The Importance of Owning One's House
Having one’s house is very crucial for people in some countries rather than renting an apartment, the reason being that they do not want to subject themselves to the various issues that lie in renting an apartment; such problems like lack of adequate privacy, obnoxious or nosy neighbours and even tantrums thrown by house owners.
For example, in a country like Nigeria, people want to possess a house of theirs, most especially, when they can afford such project at a particular point in their life. Considering the fact that, though financially draining, owning a house of one is a big, long-term asset; everyone is on the pursuit of having at least a small, cosy abode for refuge.
Besides, there is no greater comfort than enjoying one's privacy to the fullest without someone prying into one's affairs. More soothing is the fact that people do not have to worry about having to pay a specific rent fee on a monthly/yearly basis prior to a given deadline.
By comparison, renting an apartment can be really frustrating for most people sometimes. They have to worry over the next month's rent whilst paying for the present one.
Also, people who live in rented houses sometimes have to work in collaboration with their co - tenants when it comes to expenses; for instance, footing electricity bills and fixing faulty appliances that are for general use, such as the pumping machine. This is usually a big problem for an individual or a family who has non - cooperative or lousy neighbours. However, it could be favourable in some cases since individuals will only have to contribute a token to settle these bills.
In addition, people are usually pressurised to adhere to instructions or law enforced by landlords regarding the maintenance of their property. They cannot make a choice of theirs over the use and management of the facilities the houses provide since they do not own them.
Furthermore, individuals may constantly have to go through the hurdles of attaining a good, comfortable apartment since landlords could give them unexpected eviction note to vacate their houses for some spontaneous reasons, perhaps because they want to sell their property or augment the rent fee. This is always bothersome for people because they need to find themselves a new, comfortable apartment with a favourable rent fee within a short period of time.
From my point of view, owning one's house saves one from financial and emotional distress. It's is a very great achievement in one's life because it provides one with utmost privacy and rest of mind.
